Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet
Don’t Blame The Wrong Person
“Plead, O Lord, with those who strive with me;
fight against those who fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler,
and stand up for my help.
Also draw out the spear,
and stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul, ‘I am your salvation.’”
Psalm 35:1-3
Who are our enemies? Sometimes it’s people who come against us. More often though, it’s enemies that we don’t see – enemies in the spiritual realm. They are very real. Many people refuse to believe this because we can’t see them. Well you can’t see electricity either, but it works. You can’t see wind either, but you can see it moving tree limbs. You can’t see these evil spirits, but Scripture assures us that they are there and that they bring against us all manner of affliction, oppression, temptation, and deception.
Our battle is not against people:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness
in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:12
Before you take offense at someone who has wronged you, focus on the fact that if Scripture tells us that the source of our problem is not with flesh and blood but with Satanic beings, then we must believe what Scripture says and turn our attention away from the offender and onto the Lord, onto the only one who can help in this kind of situation.
Continuing Psalm 35, vs 10
“All my bones shall say, ‘Lord, who is like you,
delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?’”
Your enemy indeed IS too strong for you, never underestimate him. But the Lord is our salvation, don’t try to deal with human solutions, call upon HIM in time of trouble.
