Counseled Into Pride And Selfishness

“BEWARE lest anyone plunder you
through philosophy and empty deceit,
according to the tradition of men,
according to the basic principles of the world,
and not according to Christ.”
Colossians 2:8
“BEWARE…” he says. Beware lest anyone plunder you through PHILOSOPHIES.
We tend to put our trust in the “experts.” But if they are not in Christ they have nothing to offer but philosophy gained from the world system. The philosophies of the world are faulty, in fact the theories of the world are at enmity against the things of God and the things of truth. Don’t be deceived by the “experts.”
“The Lord knows the thoughts of “THE WISE,”
that they are FUTILE.
Therefore let no one boast in men.”
1 Corinthians 3:20-21
You go to a marriage counselor for example, and he will tell each of you how to adjust your behavior to stop offending your spouse. They miss the point. It’s not the behavior that needs to be adjusted, it’s the heart. Marital problems, indeed all relationship problems, are rooted in selfishness. Counselors will support your pride and your selfishness, but the Lord will change your HEART.
God’s way is always the way to the happiness you haven’t been able to find through your many sessions of “counseling” on any topic. You’re still the same, aren’t you? OR – you’ve grown in pride and selfishness as the counselor supports your “rights.” It can never work.
Take your problem to the Lord. The counsel he gives you will NOT be the counsel you would receive from a man or woman trained in the philosophies of the world.
Ask the Lord to reveal to you where you’ve put your trust in men of the world rather than in him. You might be surprised when he sheds light on how you’ve been deceived.
