He Looks On Him And Pardons Me

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness
and conveyed us into the Kingdom
of the Son of his love,
in whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
Colossians 1:13

Because of the sin of Adam, all his descendants are born into a fallen human nature and subject to the powers of darkness. Satan is “the god of this world” (2nd Corinthians 4:4) and every person is born into that kingdom, which is why each person must be born again. Upon being born again, the person is transferred into the Kingdom of God who redeems us through the atonement he accomplished for us at the Cross.

vs 21:
“And you, who once were alienated
and enemies in your mind by wicked works,
yet now he has reconciled
in the body of his flesh through death,
to present you holy, and blameless,
and above reproach in his sight…”

The Father views us as “in Christ.” We have been given HIS righteousness and are made holy IN HIM.

“Because the sinless Savior died
my sinful soul is counted free;
for God the just is satisfied
to look on him and pardon me.”
-from “Before The Throne of God Above”

Ponder those wondrous words from the hymn:
“…to look on him and pardon me.”

Read it again.

And again.

“to look on HIM …and pardon ME.”

The glorious work of Jesus Christ – on OUR behalf.
