“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty through God
to the pulling down of strong holds…”
2nd Corinthians 10:4

Oh that we would remember this always. In our fallen humanity, we strive with situations carnally, according to our feelings, our sense of justice, our resentments. All of these produce nothing good. They just cause more resentments, more animosity. They do not have the power to change things. It’s a devil’s playing field.

The weapons of warfare that DO work are mighty in God for PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS. Strongholds of bitterness, strongholds of hatred, strongholds of bondage, strongholds of sin, strongholds of deception, strongholds of every kind of evil.

If you are interceding for someone, do not do it carnally, “in the flesh.”
It won’t work.
It won’t work.
It will NOT work.
Have you not realized that by now?

What DOES work is prayer, especially with fasting.

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen?
to loose the bands of wickedness,
to undo the heavy burdens,
and to let the oppressed go free,
and that you BREAK EVERY YOKE?”
Isaiah 58:6

Jesus spoke about demonic bondage:

“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Matthew 17:21

Anyone seriously embarking on contending for someone in prayer, should first understand the nature of the battle and use the tools God himself provided for this very thing, prayer and fasting.

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:16

When a man goes to war he first makes a plan. Realize the fact that a carnal battle will not succeed, and take your problem instead to the Lord, waiting for the plan, the response he will give you as you wait on him. This is the only way to succeed. Your working according to HIS way – will “avail much!”
