Don’t Further The Problem

“So then, my beloved brethren,
let every man be swift to hear,
slow to speak, slow to wrath;
for the wrath of man
does not produce the righteousness of God.”
James 1:19-20

Never try to change a situation when you’re angry. Anger is a natural human emotion, but we need mastery over it. Whatever is done in anger can only produce the opposite of what you want. Consider what the other person’s response will be, and don’t provoke him/her. Bring it to the Lord instead and place it at his feet. Pour your heart out to him, bring all the circumstances to him, all the details, the whole story, vent it out before him. And then leave it there.

Is it ok to bring angry, hateful feelings to the Lord? Of course it’s ok. You won’t shock him, nor surprise him. Empty it out before him. Then leave it there.

“Be angry, and do not sin,
do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
nor give place to the devil.”
Ephesians 4:26-27

“…nor give place to the devil.”

And that’s the point. If in anger you sin, you’re opening up an entry for the devil and he’ll eagerly take advantage of it. Through your anger he can produce all kinds of evil. Be careful.

No. Instead, give place to the Lord. Bring the whole story to him and pour it out before him. And if need be, pour it our before him a second time. And a third if that’s what it takes. Then leave it there.    And HE will bring you peace, and healing if you truly leave it there.

“Peace I leave with you, MY peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.”
John 14:27
