The Trap Of Busyness

“I know your works, your labor, your patience,
and that you cannot bear those who are evil.
And you have tested those who say they are apostles
and are not, and have found them liars;
and you have persevered and have patience,
and have labored for my name’s sake
and have not become weary.
Nevertheless I have this against you,
that you have left your first love.”
Revelation 2:2-3

Good works certainly have their place in our walk with the Lord, and are expected of us as a natural outflow of the Holy Spirit within. BUT – more important than all that is our love for the Lord himself.

We can get so caught up in what we do, we can become so busy, that we neglect our personal time with HIM, even not finding time to feed in his Word. We feel content that we’re serving him, not realizing we’re leaving out the most important element in our walk with him – spending TIME with HIM.

Busy-ness can eat up not only our time but our strength, and oftentimes we get too tired or distracted and put him aside. Don’t be one who hears from him, “you have left your first love.” Take time to evaluate your walk with him and see if in your zeal, you have wandered away from HIM.

Our time with him must be the priority. He must be first, not last if we can squeeze him in.
