“Then Jesus said to his disciples,
‘Assuredly, I say to you
that it is hard for a rich man
to enter the kingdom of heaven.
And again I say to you,
it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.’”
Matthew 19:23-24

Why is that? It’s because the process of coming to the Lord for salvation requires attitudes that the rich usually don’t have. A person comes to the Lord when he/she realizes the depth of his own depravity, the vastness of his need, and bows before the Lord in humble request to be saved. Obviously, the rich are usually not of that mindset.

Jesus’s disciples were appalled when he said that and asked how, then, a rich person can be saved.

vs 26:
“But Jesus looked at them and said to them,
‘With men this is impossible,
but with God all things are possible.’”

God can bring about circumstances to bring a rich person to his knees. Otherwise it would often be useless to intercede for such a one. But do indeed intercede for them for:

“The Lord is …not willing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.”
2nd Peter 3:9

Pray, intercede, and pray some more – because only he can do in them what you cannot do through argument.
