The Word Of God Doesn’t Change With The Culture

“For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires,
because they have itching ears,
they will heap up for themselves teachers,
and they will turn their ears away from the truth…”
2nd Timothy 4:2-3
There has never been a time when this passage has been more obvious than at the present time.
They will not endure sound doctrine…
Many have heaped up to themselves teachers who teach the pleasant and “uplifting” things that the people want to hear, how they can “prosper” in all areas of life – while anyone preaching the truth is scorned, laughed at, and branded all kinds of hateful names.
The Word of God does not evolve with the changing culture. The Word of God remains for all time. But the time has come in these last days, when many simply will not endure sound doctrine. Just as it was foretold.
“For the message of the Cross is foolishness
to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved
it is the power of God.”
1st Corinthians 1:18
The cross is an instrument of death. We are to take up our cross daily, not our rolex, die to ourselves, and follow Christ.
“Whoever desires to come after me,
let him deny himself,
and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world,
and loses his own soul?”
Mark 8:34-36
Jesus Christ was an extreme right-wing, narrow-minded fundamentalist. He didn’t change his message for the sake of the culture, nor change it because of men’s sensitivities. The Word of God does not change.
And that’s the hard truth they cannot stand.
