Father Knows Best

“And he gave them their request,
but sent leanness into their soul.”
Psalm 106:15
Be careful what you pray for. It is better to surrender to the will of God than to press him again and again for what you think you MUST have. Sometimes he will grant those requests but if they are not his will for your life, they will produce “leanness” in your soul, taking the place of the richness he preferred to produce in you.
We all know what the result is when a parent gives his child everything he wants. This is how “spoiled brats” are made. God is the perfect Father. In all of our stories his aim is not to spoil us with every wish we bring to him, but instead to use the stories of our lives to bring us to maturity.
Don’t doubt the wisdom of God. Don’t doubt his love for you. Let him bring into your life what he knows is best for you. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. He is intimately involved in your life. In the end you will rejoice when you see that what he brought is eternally better than what you thought you had to have.
Trust him!
