What Keeps A Person From God? …Pride

“How many are my iniquities and sins?
Make me know my transgression and my sin.”
Job 12:23

Most people try to justify their sins, and the world is right there to tell them they’re ok. One of the greatest deceptions that Satan uses against people is assuring the sinner that he’s really ok …but the TRUTH is – they are not ok.

Many try to blame their sins on others, on the way they were raised or on rejections or hurts or traumas they endured. The world gives their sins names other than “sin” so that they can the more easily justify themselves. There is no hope for these, because a relationship with God BEGINS with the personal acknowledgment of sin.

It’s a horrendous battle with pride and pride will show its incredible power in keeping a person from surrender. It is so powerful that most people cannot ever get beyond that.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1st John 1:8-9

The biggest surprise for me was  when I crumbled and broke before the Lord and acknowledged the depth of sin within me, I was shocked …to find his embrace. He was not shocked at my sin. He was just waiting for me to get to the TRUTH about myself.

And then restoration came.
