We Are Not Born With Wisdom

“When wisdom enters your heart,
and knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
discretion will preserve you,
understanding will keep you,
to deliver you from the way of evil,
from the man who speaks perverse things,
from those who leave the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness;
who rejoice in doing evil,
and delight in the perversity of the wicked;”
Proverbs 2:10-14
“When wisdom enters your heart…”
We are not born with wisdom. In the perverse world we live in, we will not obtain wisdom from it. Your counselors will tell you things you want to hear and they will sound right, but are not. Your professors will speak with an air of authority, but their authority comes from the world which opposes the wisdom of God.
One day in my prayer time the Lord asked me, “how would you define wisdom?” I thought long and hard and could not come up with the answer. He answered it: “Wisdom is seeing a thing from God’s perspective.”
Wisdom has to be sought. It has to be asked for. It can only enter your heart if you SEEK it from its author, the Creator of the universe who alone defines it.
“Yes, if you CRY OUT for discernment,
and LIFT UP YOUR VOICE for understanding,
if you SEEK her as silver,
and search for her as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
and find the knowledge of God.”
Proverbs 2:3-5
