“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers,
for what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?
And what communion has light with darkness?”

The company we keep – is it important?

It most certainly is. Don’t think in your pride that you will be unaffected by being yoked with unbelievers. Many think they might bring the unbelievers around to righteousness, but more often the opposite happens, the unbeliever will bring evil influence and temptation upon you. When a person is immersed in the philosophies of the world he will become desensitized to them. That is why the Scriptures directly warn about this. It is the Word of God.

“Nor shall you make marriages with them.
You shall not give your daughter to their son,
nor take their daughter for your son.
For they will turn your sons away from following me…
Deuteronomy 7:3-4

Don’t think it won’t happen to you. Instead, heed the Word of the Lord.

vs 17:
“Therefore, come out from among them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
and I will receive you.”
