Don’t Ask Amiss

“Adulterers and adulteresses!
Do you not know that friendship with the world
is enmity with God?
Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world
makes himself an enemy of God.”
James 4:4

An enemy?

Why?

Because the principles of the world are in direct contradiction to the Word of God. The philosophies of the world revolve around making you happy, successful, wealthy, powerful, raising your “self esteem,” making sure you get your “rights,”    etc.

vs 4:
“Adulterers and adulteresses!”

Adulterers? …How? Why?

The “prosperity gospel” is actually spiritual adultery. Why? Because they go after whatever they’re lusting for in the world – mansions, expensive cars, personal airplanes, gold and jewelry, whatever their hearts lust after. Those in this camp are “enemies of God,” according to God’s Word.

vs 2-3:
“Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss,
that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

No, seek after things that will LAST FOREVER.

ASK to be filled with the love of God.
ASK for the gift of repentance which will draw you near to God.
ASK for conviction in your heart to cleanse you of all that is not of God.
ASK for the gifts of the Spirit through which you can minister to people effectively.

And then you will experience the love, joy, peace, and all the fruits of the Holy Spirit that are far, far more valuable and more ENJOYABLE than anything the world has to offer.
