Understand What’s Important And What Is Not

“Do not let your adornment be outward,
arranging the hair, wearing gold,
or putting on fine apparel;
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart,
with the incorruptible beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.”
1st Peter 3:3-4

Priorities. Which matters most, what you wear and the way you look? Or is your focus on the hidden person of the heart. The former is going to pass away. The latter will last forever.

The rich and famous – royalty, tv, sports and movie stars, are all about what they wear, how they perform, and how they look. Do you follow after these? Do you idolize these?

Many of the ones idolized on this earth will not be found in heaven. Their pomp and pride will not have availed them anything but shame. On the other hand, the ones who made the principles of the Kingdom of God their focus, will live with him forever.

“For you see your calling, brethren
that not many wise according to the flesh
not many mighty, not many noble, are called
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world
to put to shame the wise,
and God has chosen the weak things of the world
to put to shame the things which are mighty;”
1st Corinthians 1:26-27

Strive therefore to set right priorities in your heart – not your appearance, but the hidden person of the heart. Remember always that the first is very temporary, but the latter is for all eternity.
