Abiding In The Vine

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
and whose hope is the Lord;
for he shall be like a tree planted by the waters
which spreads out its roots by the river
and will not fear when heat comes;
but its leaf will be green
and will not be anxious in the year of drought,
nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
If you feed from the vine, if the vine is the source of your life, then your roots will go deep and your leaf will be green no matter what the circumstances. In hard times, in dry times, you will not stop yielding fruit – BECAUSE you are getting life from the vine.
“He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit;
for without me YOU CAN DO NOTHING.”
John 15:5
So HOW do you “abide” in the vine?
You abide in the vine by feeding DAILY in his Word, the Scriptures he has given us, and by taking the time daily to pray and to be in his presence. If you do these things, you will remain healthy in the Lord. But if you neglect them, you will be as a person who does not eat – your soul will be famished; you will not have the strength to endure in trials, and you will not be fruitful in your life.
If your life is empty, famished …abide in the vine. It will make all the difference in the world.
