“The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,
and his tongue talks of justice.
The law of his God is in his heart;
none of his steps shall slide.”
Psalm 37:30-31

There is a huge difference between walking in righteousness because of fear, versus walking in righteousness because God has changed our hearts. We are born with a fallen human nature and the only way for society to hold evil back is to control the people with laws. But when God has put his laws into the HEART of a believer, the believer’s nature has been changed, and he actually WANTS to do right. His NATURE has been changed. He has been reborn.

ASK for it. ASK God to put his laws into your heart and teach you his ways. ASK to be born again. There is tremendous joy in it, and peace that surpasses understanding. No one who has ever tasted of this would ever want to return to the way their lives were before.

We cannot do it on our own, righteousness will never succeed as the product of our striving. When a person is born again it changes everything. The thing he now fears the most is falling from grace, being out of favor with God, displeasing the Lord in any way, losing the precious sense of his presence.

God doesn’t leave us to ourselves, he is there for us, if only we will ASK, casting our cares upon the Lord and surrendering our lives to him. Then …the Lord leads us to victory.

“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory
WITH EXCEEDING JOY,
to God our Savior, who alone is wise,
be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and forever.”
Jude 1:24-25
