Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

When The Things Of The World Grow Strangely Dim

“And everyone who has left
houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or wife or children
or lands, for my name’s sake,
shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”
Matthew 19:29

This is not for everyone. Few would be willing to leave all to follow the Lord – and no one best try it unless they are called to it.

Salvation is a free gift. The many receive it and are thankful for it, and will stay where they’ve been planted to happily serve the Lord from there. But there are some whom the Lord calls to a closer walk with him, a walk that involves being willing to leave anything and anyone.

I was in my livingroom one day shortly after I was born again, and the Lord Jesus came to me. I will never, ever, EVER forget the words he spoke to me. He said, “Forsaking all, come follow me.”

It’s been costly. Extremely costly. I committed my “yes” to him that day, and went on to live through that cost. I had to forsake all.

But the glory that followed is beyond describing. The joy. The love I have dwelled in with the Lord since that day. His daily presence, his surprises – the Lord LOVES surprises, his hugs when things were rough. Not a single day have I been alone, for he has never left me no matter what, even when I got off track a bit.

Oh how I wish all could know him like this. Oh that they would come to know this precious Savior and find all their delight in Him.

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
look full in his wonderful face;
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of his glory and grace.”
