Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
For The Sake Of The Few

“I have come as a light into the world,
that whoever believes in me
should not abide in darkness.”
John 12:46
What does it mean to “abide in darkness?”
It means that they are UNABLE to see.
“But the natural man does not receive
the things of the Spirit of God,
for they are foolishness to him;
NOR CAN HE know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.”
1st Corinthians 2:14
Without the Light, a human being CANNOT see, cannot understand, and cannot receive the things of God. The difficulty a born-again person has when speaking to someone who is not born-again, is the frustration in realizing he cannot reach them. Their eyes are blank. They don’t get it, because they CAN’T get it.
“For the message of the Cross is foolishness
to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved
it is the power of God.”
1st Corinthians 1:18
So why bother?
We continue because we never know who the Spirit of God will touch, that is the job of the Holy Spirit, he alone knows who will get it and who won’t. We preach it because it is through hearing the Word of God that faith will be born in some; and some, hearing the Word of God – will believe. Therefore we speak the Gospel everywhere, to everyone, at all times.
Some will believe and be saved. Most won’t. But for the sake of the few, we press on knowing that the Spirit of God will reach out and open eyes to see, and hearts to receive, one here, one there, bringing in those who are willing out of the darkness and into the Light.
“Preach the word! Be ready
in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort,
with all longsuffering and teaching.”
2nd Timothy 4:2
For the sake of the few.
