Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

The Passover Lamb

In the beginning:

After Adam and Eve sinned, they hid themselves. They sewed together leaves to cover themselves.

But the Lord rejected those coverings and clothed them …with animal skins.

This was the beginning of the revelation of redemption.

It was God himself who made the coverings for them – out of animal skins – to show that atonement has to be by the blood of the lamb.

A lamb for each man, each woman.

Unfolding the revelation…

Passover

Judgment was about to fall upon all of Egypt where the children of Israel were there in captivity. The Lord told his people through Moses that judgment was coming and that they were to sacrifice

– A LAMB –

…and put its blood upon their doorposts, on the top, then on each upper side, a picture of a cross.

When the angel of death went through the land every house that had the blood of the lamb on its doorpost was “passed over,” celebrated every year on the feast of Passover.

They were saved by the blood of the lamb.

A lamb for a family.

The revelation expands…

The Temple

Each year, on the feast of Yom Kippur, the high priest was to take the blood of the sacrificed lamb into the Holy of Holies and offer that blood as atonement for the sins of God’s people. He then took that blood and sprinkled them with it, and their sins were forgiven.

A lamb for a nation.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming, he proclaimed:

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29

The Lamb …for YOU.
