Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
Why Did Jesus Christ Die?

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord
does not impute iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.”
Psalm 32:1-2
We were born in a fallen human nature, we were born into sin. But God so loved us that he gave us his Son who carried our sins to the Cross where he received in himself the judgment on it ALL.
For all who have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ and who willingly surrender their lives to him, their transgressions are forgiven and righteousness is imputed to them BECAUSE of him.
And for those born again, he has given this promise:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1st John 1:9
He forgives our sins BECAUSE the judgment due on them has been paid, in the torture and death of Jesus Christ who received in himself that judgment FOR us, IN OUR PLACE.
We come to God in the humility of truthful confession, acknowledging our sin even when we are tempted to blame it on someone or something else. This humility is painful to us, but precious in the eyes of the Lord.
Don’t let pride prevent you from acknowledging the truth about yourself. May the Spirit of God show you your condition, and help you to acknowledge the truth – and be saved.
