Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

Learn To Wait In Faith

“And we desire that each one of you
show the same diligence
to the full assurance of hope until the end,
that you do not become sluggish,
but imitate those who
THROUGH FAITH AND PATIENCE
inherit the promises.”
Hebrews 6:11-12

In today’s world, “wait” isn’t in our popular vocabulary. But to wait on the Lord is a principle he repeats in his Word over and over again throughout the Scriptures. Do not think for a moment that the passage of time suggests that a promise will not be realized. If you wait patiently and maintain an attitude of praise, the promise will bring forth its end in an even greater way than what was imagined.

“And so, after he (Abraham) had patiently endured,
he obtained the promise.”
Hebrews 6:15

I once asked the Lord, concerning waiting, “how long, Lord?” because I had been praying for years for something important to me and I thought that was surely long enough. His reply to me: “How long has my Son waited to receive the promises made to him?”

When the angel spoke to Mary about the child she would conceive, he told her that the child would someday sit on the Throne of his father David. When the angel made this promise to her, there was no Throne of David, Israel was at that time under the authority of Rome.

In other words — we are to wait …as long as it takes.

The length of time does not in any way lessen the surety of the promise. Do NOT give up. The one thing that is sure is that it WILL come!
