“You, Lord, in the beginning
laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you remain;
and they will all grow old like a garment;
like a cloak you will fold them up,
and they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will not fail.”
Hebrews 1:10-12

They say death and taxes are the only things that you can be sure of. No, they will pass away too. Only God remains, only he never changes, and he has said that his Word will never change. It will not conform to society, it will never be “old fashioned,” it will never be “contemporary,” it will never be “post modern.”

In whatever way the world or culture or society changes, the Word of God will not. Society constantly changes, but the Word of God never will. It remains pure.

We cannot mold the Word of God to suit our “modern” world. The very opposite is true:

“Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will by no means pass away.”
Matthew 24:35

“For I am the Lord, I do not change;”
Malachi 3:6
