Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

The Hard Stories Are Essential

“Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have walked in my integrity.
I have also trusted in the Lord…”
Psalm 26:1

If you want the Lord to vindicate you, first, you must set your heart on forgiveness. Forgiveness is probably the most difficult thing asked of us, but one of the most necessary.

This is something you CANNOT do on your own. Pray for help, ask for a perspective that will enable you to forgive. Keep in mind that the one who is suffering is YOU, not the person who hurt you. Holding on to bitterness will not affect them at all as they go about their merry way, but it will imprison you in misery.

I asked for a way to forgive and this is what he showed me: I saw my life from the PERSPECTIVE of God’s plan for me being laid out as a movie. Many players came into and went out of my life, and all played a necessary role which the Lord used to transform my fallen soul into something that glorifies him. In his plan for each life, he has set goals and he uses the circumstances of our lives to get us there. Some of those goals can be met ONLY through pain.

I was enabled to go back and see what role each player played, and I gained understanding, especially as I saw that there was no way to get to where I am today other than through those hard stories.

Understanding that, gave me the perspective through which I was enabled to forgive, and forgiveness slew the bitterness and brought peace to my heart.

He may give you a different perspective, he knows what will work for you. Realize that deep wounds CANNOT be healed without forgiveness. ASK for the ability to let it go. He will enable you if you ask.
