Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet

God Humbles The Proud and Exalts The Humble

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor,
that you through his poverty might become rich.”
2nd Corinthians 8:9

Love is the willingness to humble oneself for the benefit of someone else, as Christ did for us.

You may have heard the expression, “the way up is down.” Nowhere is this truer than in our walk with the Lord. It’s a principle of the Kingdom of God. Why must it be this way, you might ask? One answer is that the most deadly of all sins is the sin of pride. Pride is what got Lucifer, the chief of all the angels, cast out of heaven. Lucifer intended to become equal with God.

What is humility? Some view humility as putting one’s self down – no, that’s false humility. True humility grants God the right to be the supreme being, the Lord of one’s life. Jesus never put himself down. Jesus demonstrated true humility when he recognized the place of the Father and submitted to him.

Let this mind BE ALSO IN US:

“Let this mind be in you
which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, being in the form of God,
did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
but made himself of no reputation,
taking the form of a bondservant,
and coming in the likeness of men.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death,
even the death of the cross.”
Philippians 2:5-8

Therefore:

vs 9:
“THEREFORE God also has highly exalted him
and given him the name which is above every name…”

The way up is down.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and HE will lift you up.”
James 4:10
