Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet
You’re Not Called To Walk In Someone Else’s Gift

“Now a certain Jew named Apollos,
born at Alexandria, an eloquent man
and mighty in the Scriptures,
came to Ephesus. This man
had been instructed in the way of the Lord,
and being fervent in spirit,
he spoke and taught accurately
the things of the Lord…”
Acts 18:24-25
“…an eloquent man …fervent in Spirit…”
This man was gifted in eloquence and he spoke in public fervently. Could you do that? Do you shudder at even the thought of preaching the Gospel publicly? When you were in school, were you the one who buried your head whenever the teacher was looking for someone to stand and read?
The point is that to speak eloquently in public is a gift of God. Don’t shudder when you read about it, you are not called to perform in someone else’s gift. Instead, look into yourself and determine what YOUR gift is, and then do it fervently unto the Lord, with all your heart.
Never compare yourself to someone else, you will never be judged for not having worked in someone else’s gift. But it will be required of you whether you used YOUR gift to the fullest in the service of the One who gave it to you.
