The Difference Between ‘They’ and ‘You’

“For you yourselves know perfectly
that the day of the Lord so comes
as a thief in the night.
For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’
then sudden destruction comes upon them,
as labor pains upon a pregnant woman,
and they shall not escape.”
1st Thessalonians 5:2-3
The apostle Paul makes a difference between “they” and “you.” “They” are the people upon whom the sudden destruction will come at a time when they are talking peace. “They” will be here when the great Tribulation, the wrath of God almighty, comes upon the earth, and NO ONE will be able to escape it.
But YOU…
vs: 4
“But YOU, brethren, are not in darkness,
that that Day should overtake you as a thief.”
Those who are born again will not be here for the Tribulation. That day will NOT come upon born-again believers as a thief.
The Tribulation is the seven-year period when the Lord pours out the fury of the wrath of God almighty upon a rebellious and Christ-rejecting world. It is a time of tribulation such as has never been on the earth, nor ever will be afterwards. Jesus said:
“For then there will be great tribulation,
such as has not been since
the beginning of the world until this time,
no, nor ever shall be.”
Matthew 24:21
Jesus told us to pray that we may be counted worthy to ESCAPE these things.
“Watch therefore, and pray always
that you may be counted worthy
to ESCAPE all these things that will come to pass,
and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:36
Have you followed Christ’s admonition to pray this request? If He tells us to pray this, we’d better be praying it.
Watch and pray to escape. Those who do, will be removed in the Rapture of the Church and will not be here to suffer that awful time.
