Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
What It’s Really All About

“For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.
And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile,
you are still in your sins!
Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ
have perished.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ,
we are of all men the most pitiable.”
1st Corinthians 15:16-19
If in this life only we have Christ, then he has become nothing more than a philosophy, and that would make him equal to every other philosopher.
Why is Jesus Christ important, and his mission vital? For us, it’s a matter of life and death.
Jesus Christ is the only one who bore in himself the judgment on our sins. No philosopher could achieve this.
Our lifespan here is very short. If the average lifespan is 80 years more or less, consider how short that is compared to the thousands of years before us and eternity to come. On a yardstick, our life here is the first 1/16th inch. The rest is our eternity.
Therefore the most important thing in life is to invest this life for the one to come, by finding out what this life is all about, and what our personal purpose is, to understand salvation. It’s to understand about heaven, and how we must get there. And to understand about hell.
God did not put us here and say, “good luck, hope you make it,” and walk away. No, he gave us his Word to tell us who he is, who we are, and what it’s all about it. That Word, called the Bible, should be the most important thing in life to us. Our eternity depends on it.
