I heard someone say that she is sure she’ll go to heaven because she is a good person. Satan has succeeded in deceiving her, telling her people go to heaven if they’re “good.”

That is a lie.

If a man were standing before a judge convicted of murder, and he told the judge he gives to charity, would it do him any good? No. The judge Is not interested in his good deeds. The murder is the issue.

When you stand before the Judge of the universe – reciting to him the good you’ve done will not help because you will be on trial for your sin, for breaking the commands of a righteous and holy God.

The teaching of the “New Age” movement is that there is no sin, it’s all about what WE can do to make ourselves happier, always focusing on how we can grow in “SELF esteem.”

These are LIES.

We are sinners. That’s the truth.

The work of the Spirit of God is to show us what’s really inside us, and it will NOT cause us to grow in “self esteem.” No, it will show us the corruption of our fallen human nature.

That’s why God sent to us a Savior.

Jesus Christ bore our guilt and carried the judgment on our sins to the cross, where he received IN HIMSELF the JUDGMENT DUE US.

When you stand before God, do not begin listing your good works. It will do you no good because your sin will be outstanding. You need the Savior who bore your judgment.

Come to God in the name of the Savior he sent for exactly this purpose: Jesus Christ the Savior. ASK him to become your Savior. Turn to him and be saved.
