Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet

Fortune Tellers

“…a certain slave girl demonized
with a spirit of divination met us,
who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.
This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying,
‘These men are the servants of the Most High God,
who proclaim to us the way of salvation.’
And this she did for many days.
But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit,
“I command you in the name of Jesus Christ
to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.”
Acts 16:16-18

It’s difficult for people in this modern era to believe that demons are real. In this passage it is clearly stated that it was a demon spirit that enabled this girl to tell fortunes.

After Paul cast out the spirit, the girl could no longer foretell anyone’s circumstances. Her employers had made a lot of money from her “gift,” and they were so enraged that they had Paul and Silas beaten and thrown into prison.

When a person has a “psychic gift,” the source is a demonic spirit. If a psychic tells you something he or she would have had no way of knowing, that knowledge ALWAYS comes from a demonic spirit the medium makes contact with.

People with psychic “gifts” end up with various curses, as all do who are in any way involved in the occult. Many times there will be tragedy in that family, mental illness, and/or premature death. The Scriptures absolutely forbid involvement in any form of occultism, and the curse that comes upon anyone involving themselves in it goes down to the third and fourth generation. It’s that serious.

King Saul went to a fortune teller, and the result was …he lost his life shortly after. The occult is deadly. It’s called “spiritual adultery.”

“So Saul died for his unfaithfulness
which he had committed against the Lord,
because he did not keep the word of the Lord,
and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.”
1st Chronicles 10:13
