Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
How Close To Him Do You Want To Be?

“But without a parable he did not speak to them.
AND WHEN THEY WERE ALONE,
he explained all things to his disciples.”
Matthew 4:34
The world may hear quotes from the Bible from time to time, and may be familiar with some of them, but they won’t understand anything but the surface meaning.
There are deep truths hidden in the Word of God, which may only be gleaned by coming aside to be alone with Jesus, meditating on his Word, asking him to reveal his Word to a listening heart. Jesus does not reveal his Word to the world, but only to his disciples, his followers, those who choose him over all. These he will privilege to see the deeper meanings in his Word, as he takes them aside daily for a private teaching.
If you desire to know in more depth the gems in God’s Word, take time daily to sit before him to learn from him, to pray, to read his Word. Those who have only superficial interest, will only get superficial understanding. If you desire more of him you’ll have to make TIME to spend with him.
The disciples of Jesus walked with him, but only three, Peter, James, and John, went aside with him to understand more deeply, and it was these three who became the leaders, and the writers of a large part of the New Testament. Remember, they were only fishermen. The difference was in the fact that they went aside with him, hungering for more.
Is your life too busy? How much time do you set aside to come alone with the Lord? If you have time to watch tv or to surf the internet, then you can make time for the most important thing in life – your time with your Lord.
“I rejoice at your Word
as one who finds great treasure.”
Psalm 119:162
