You’ll Never Walk Alone

“For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his mercy
TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father pities his children,
so the Lord pities THOSE WHO FEAR HIM;
for he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.”
Psalm 103:11-14
Some religions portray God as a fierce judge watching from heaven with a stick, ready to smack anyone who does wrong. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
It is not God who causes evil in the world; we have an enemy who goes around “as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (1st Peter 5:8). Once a person has left the kingdom of the world and has become born-again into the Kingdom of God, he comes to know the mercy and grace of a gracious Father who is full of loving kindness. The Lord doesn’t remove us from the ills of the world, but he walks with us through every step of the way and his fingerprints will be all over everything we walk through. We will always see the evidence of his presence with us.
For the rest …they’re on their own.
“The thief does not come except to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy.
I HAVE COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE,
AND THAT THEY MAY HAVE IT
MORE ABUNDANTLY.”
John 10:10
