You Call It Shyness – He Calls It ‘Ashamed’

“For whoever is ashamed of me and my words
in this adulterous and sinful generation,
of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed
when he comes in the glory of his Father
with the holy angels.”
Mark 8:36-38
When you consider all that he has done for us, when you consider lives changed forever, when you consider his daily presence and guidance and love, then WHY would a believer be ashamed to speak of him?
One reason we hold back is that we are only too aware that the world is opposed to him. We cower in fear of the reactions of people and keep silent out of fear of their response. How cowardly. How unappreciative. “Shyness,” you say? That’s just an excuse for the truth – the root of one’s “shyness” is actually being ashamed of him. If you became engaged to be married, you’d tell the whole world. Well you’ve received the promise of heaven at the cost of the Beloved, is it really that hard to tell the world?
“Also I say to you, whoever confesses me before men,
him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.”
Luke 12:8
If your life has been changed by Jesus Christ, never, NEVER shrink back from speaking of him and telling the wondrous things he has done in your life. ASK for boldness. Ask for it!
What you say can change someone’s eternity.
“You will be owned or disowned by Christ in the great day,
according as you now own or disown him.”
-Matthew Henry
